Enhancing Advocacy Communication Capacities of Nurses and Other Health Professionals

A team from the Kosovo Chamber of Nurses, Midwives and Other Health Professionals (CoNK) participated in a two-day training on Communication for Advocacy on 6–7 May 2026, designed to strengthen strategic communication and advocacy capacities of the CoNK.

The training was officially opened by Nexhmije Gori, President of the CoNK, who highlighted the importance of strategic communication for professional chambers and healthcare institutions, particularly in the context of healthcare reforms, advocacy efforts, and strengthening public trust. The training derives from the Advocacy Strategy developed for CoNK with technical support from the IHS Project.

Through an interactive and practice-oriented approach, participants explored communication as a strategic tool for influence, focusing on audience segmentation, message tailoring, advocacy narratives, media engagement, and institutional visibility. The sessions emphasized the importance of moving beyond information-sharing toward impact-oriented advocacy communication aligned with institutional priorities and public engagement objectives.

Participants engaged in simulations of media interviews and press conferences, role-play exercises involving policymakers and journalists, drafting of press releases and policy briefs, and practical group exercises focused on campaign development and strategic messaging. Special attention was given to translating technical healthcare language into clear, accessible, and audience-oriented public communication.

The training forms part of broader efforts to strengthen institutional advocacy and communication capacities within Kosovo’s healthcare sector.
