Kosovo Highlights Internationally Its Commitment to Health Promoting Hospitals
Kosovo’s journey towards health promoting hospitals standards was introduced at the 29th International Conference on Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services, held in Austria on 20 – 22 September 2023. The presentation by the Kosovo team showcased the dedication of institutions to improving healthcare by focusing on the health educational role of hospital facilities.
Health Promoting Hospitals is an important network led by WHO that presents a high standard in the field of health education and health promotion.
The presentation by Fekrije Hasani, Senior Health Expert at the Integrated Health Services (IHS) project highlighted key initiatives, challenges faced, and the transformative impact that health promoting hospital standards will have on healthcare in Kosovo. She also emphasized the importance of international collaboration in achieving sustainable results.
Dr. Fazli Shala, Executive Director of the General Hospital in Peja also represented Kosovo at the 29th International Conference on Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services, reiterating the institutional support to this reform. The process of implementing these standards is facilitated through IHS, which is a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Kosovo in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
This initiative, aiming to support two General Hospitals in country in meeting the stardards of Health Promotiong Hopsital, making Kosovo a champion in this field.
