CSOs Sign Collaboration Agreement to Strengthen Patient Advocacy
On 22 October 2024, the Patients’ Rights Association of Kosovo (PRAK) signed Memoranda of Collaboration (MOCs) with nine patient organizations from Kosovo, to advance patient advocacy. The MOCs aim to improve collaboration between these organizations and ensure patients’ voices play a more influential role in shaping healthcare policy and service delivery across Kosovo.
Agron Bytyqi, Executive Director of PRAK, said these agreements are a “major step forward” in advancing patient rights and improving healthcare outcomes. “These MOCs will enhance our ability to stay informed about the evolving needs of patients throughout Kosovo. By uniting our efforts, we become a more organized and powerful voice, capable of influencing health policies and driving tangible improvements for patients,” Bytyqi stated. “This collaboration strengthens our capacity to advocate for patient-centred care and higher healthcare standards.”
Dr. Lia Tavadze, Team Leader of Integrated Health Services (IHS) project, also emphasized that patient involvement in the healthcare process is essential for continuous quality improvement. “Today’s event is a reflection of our shared commitment to upholding patients’ rights and ensuring their engagement contributes to their adequate participation in healthcare decision-making.”
The new partnerships aim to bolster patient advocacy by connecting diverse fora of patient organizations, and by extension, the thematic areas and groups of patients they represent, more closely involve into healthcare policy discussions and amplify patient voices.
