Strengthening Hospital Management and Quality of Care in Kosovo
In September 2025, Dr. Manfred Zahorka, International Expert, conducted a mission under the Integrated Health Services (IHS) Project to support the strengthening of hospital management capacities and the enhancement of quality of care in Kosovo’s general hospitals.
The mission focused on refining the Strategic Planning Module, reviewing and strengthening ongoing Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) in Peja and Gjakova, and equipping hospital teams with practical process improvement tools such as PDSA cycles, Root Cause Analysis, and Process Mapping.
Hands-on workshops held at the General Hospitals of Gjakova and Peja enabled teams to work on real hospital workflows, identify improvement priorities, and develop concrete three-month action plans to enhance patient care and service delivery, concluding with follow-up actions and sustainability measures.
