Kosovo Healthcare Professionals Joined Utrecht Forum

A delegation of healthcare professionals from Kosovo joined over 5,000 participants from more than 70 countries at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, held from May 21–23, 2025, in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The Kosovo delegation, comprising representatives from hospitals, primary care centers, and the Ministry of Health, actively engaged in workshops, case study sessions, and collaborative learning experiences focused on improving patient outcomes and fostering innovation.

On the opening day, the team took part in an immersive Experience Day at Albert Schweitzer Hospital, with sessions addressing nursing leadership, staff well-being, and strategies for creating safer care environments. The subsequent days of the Forum featured keynote presentations and skill-building tracks designed to help healthcare systems evolve in response to current challenges.

“Evidence-based quality management experiences promote cross-sector collaboration and concrete solutions that improve the quality, safety, equity, and efficiency of healthcare,” said Dr. Hajrullah Fejza, Head of the Division for Quality, Safety, and Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions at the Ministry of Health of Kosovo.

Knowledge and strategies gained during the Forum will be shared with peers and institutions across Kosovo, contributing to ongoing national efforts to improve the quality of healthcare and enhance patient safety.

Participation in the Forum was made possible through support from the Integrated Healthcare Services (IHS) and Accessible Quality Healthcare (AQH) projects. The Forum, as a premier global event co-hosted by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and BMJ, was dedicated to advancing healthcare quality, safety, and system transformation.
