
Gjakova Workshop Highlights Patient-Centred Healthcare Steps Forward
On 25 June 2025, healthcare professionals from the General Hospital of Gjakova met to discuss advancing patient-centred care in Kosovo, the key to ongoing efforts in this dimension of healthcare. Organized by the IHS Project and led by health systems expert Prof. Oliver Groene, the workshop emphasized importance of using patient feedback on their experiences while in health institutions to improve services and promote health within hospitals.
Key discussions included early results from recently initiated patient experience surveys in Gjakova and Peja GHs, to identify priority areas for improvements. Participants explored the ways to developed strategies to boost patient education and self-care, proposing targeted health campaigns and better use of hospital settings for health promotion.
Prof. Groene toured the facility, observing chronic disease management premises and protocols. He also visited the Internal Medicine Ward and Health Education Room, where hospital staff showcased educational efforts supported by the IHS Project.
The event concluded with visiting a newly constructed multi-function reception area use facility to be opened soon, specifically designed to enhance patient information and navigation, quality assurance, and participatory care, in line with the Health Promoting Hospitals framework.
