Gjakova Workshop Tackles AI-Driven Health Disinformation
On 28 January 2026, IHS organized in Gjakova a workshop focused on the growing threat of artificial intelligence in spreading health disinformation, particularly affecting people with chronic conditions.
Part of an ongoing media literacy for better health initiative, the session brought together civil society members, local activists and health professionals to examine how AI technologies are being used to create convincing yet false health content, ranging from fake testimonials to deepfake videos of health professionals.
Participants analyzed real-world examples of AI-generated misinformation and learned practical tools to verify online content, detect manipulation, and understand how social media algorithms amplify harmful narratives.
