Motivational Interviewing Training Empowers Health Professionals in Peja
Doctors and nurses at General Hospital of Peja attended on 10–11 February 2026 a hands-on, two-day training focused on Motivational Interviewing and effective patient communication. The special emphasis was on supporting people living with chronic non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
The training aimed to strengthen local healthcare capacity in secondary care by equipping professionals with practical tools to help patients navigate behavior change, manage ambivalence, and stay motivated in their treatment journeys. Rather than traditional top-down advice, participants explored a patient-centered approach built on empathy, collaboration, and real-life conversations.
The training is accredited by the Chamber of Nurses of Kosovo with 10 continuing education credits. By the end of the program, participants were better prepared to apply motivational techniques in daily practice, transforming routine consultations into meaningful conversations that support long-term health outcomes.
