Supporting the Implementation of 2024-2026 Action Plan for Clinical Practice Guidelines

Last week, the Integrated Health Services (IHS) project organized a series of meetings and workshops to support the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) with the implementation of the 2024-2026 Action Plan for Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).

Led by international expert Dr. Mihai Horga, the week-long activities started with a thorough review of the CPG Secretariat’s Terms of Reference. The focus was on identifying roles, responsibilities, and best practices, as well as addressing ongoing challenges that the Secretariat has faced since its inception, while elaborating solutions to enhance the Secretariat’s overall effectiveness.

At a session that brought together in Prishtina key stakeholders, including representatives from MoH, NIPH, AQH, and IHS, Dr. Horga led an in-depth assessment of strategies for CPG implementation. The discussions centred on identifying the support needed for successful CPG implementation, addressing current challenges, and developing a robust action plan.

The mission concluded with a comprehensive review of the Training of Trainers (ToT) program for Clinical Practice Guidelines together with ToT Alumni and Secretariat members. The purpose of this exercise was to evaluate the current state of the program, training materials, and areas for improvement. The group also developed a plan for organizing future ToT sessions, focusing on effective training delivery and ensuring continuous improvement in the program’s structure and content.

This mission marks a significant step forward in the implementation of CPGs, with a clear focus on enhancing the efficiency and impact of health guidelines across the nation.
