Strengthening Capacities in Healthcare Strategic Planning

From 27–29 May 2025, the Integrated Health Services (IHS) project organized a three-day workshop on strategic planning in healthcare, designed to build the capacity of healthcare leaders and managers of public institutions across all levels of the system.

Participants representing diverse range of healthcare providers engaged in interactive sessions that covered key elements of strategic planning, including applying the SWOT and PESTLE analyses, stakeholder mapping, mission and vision development, SMART goal setting, resource allocation, implementation strategies, and other important tools including monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

The training was highly participatory, blending lectures with practical group exercises, planning projects, and discussing real-world case studies. Facilitators’ feedback throughout the sessions helped participants apply concepts to context-specific challenges and opportunities. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants developed draft strategic plans for hypothetical healthcare organizations and acquired practical insights to enhance strategic thinking and initiatives within their own institutions.

This training is a first episode in the newly initiated Health Management Trainings series within the IHS Project’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Kosovo health system through supporting evidence-based knowledge and capacities for sustainable development.
