Training of Trainers Program for Clinical Audit Kicks Off

On 9 September 2024, the five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program on Clinical Audit aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services in Kosovo kicked off. Training participants include staff from the general hospitals across Kosovo. As a joint activity of the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Kosovo Hospital and University Clinical Service (KHUCS), and the Integrated Health Services (IHS) Project, the TOT aims to improve the safety and effectiveness of care for patients.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Naim Bardiqi, General Secretary of the MOH, underscored the significance of this training. “This moment marks a significant step forward in the ongoing commitment to raising the quality standards of healthcare services in our country,” he stated. “Clinical audit is more than a process; it is a powerful tool that allows us to reflect on our practices, identify areas for improvement, and ultimately provide the highest standard of care for our patients.” Dr. Bardiqi emphasized the pivotal role that the newly trained professionals will play as future trainers, guiding their peers in implementing clinical audits effectively within healthcare institutions.

Dr. Ilir Mecini added that “This initiative aims to develop and strengthen local capacities in the field of clinical auditing, equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively implement clinical audits in practice, thus ensuring that our institutions provide the highest standard of care.”

The training is facilitated by international expert Dr. Mihai Negrea, who brings extensive experience in healthcare management. Over the course of the five-day program, participants will gain in-depth knowledge of clinical audit processes, with a focus on creating a culture of continuous quality improvement within Kosovo’s healthcare institutions.
