Working Group on MonitorIM Application Agrees on Next Steps
Ministry of Health representatives, healthcare professionals, and patient representatives met on 30 June 2026 to review and validate the updated version of MonitorIM, the digital self-management application for patients living with diabetes and hypertension. The meeting marked an important milestone in the continued development of the self-management programme, with participants confirming key technical and clinical improvements by end of the year.
Building on feedback gathered during recent technical workshops in Peja, Gjakova, and Prishtina, and solutions explored by Global CT – application development partner, including ideas from a hackathone gathering of young programmers, the updated application introduces a range of enhancements designed to improve both patient experience and clinical workflows. These include a secure messaging function between healthcare providers and patients, improved access to patient history, a more intuitive dashboard, mobile optimization, simplified documentation of dietary advice, motivational reminders to encourage regular self-monitoring, and enhanced risk alerts based on clinical protocols. Participants also validated key clinical parameters and agreed on further refinements to ensure the application remains aligned with national treatment guidelines.
The Working Group also agreed on the next steps for implementation of the national plan on self-management of patients with diabetes and hypertension in 2026, with stronger involvement of primary healthcare providers alongside secondary care. To support the process, participants endorsed the establishment of a regular technical task force that will monitor implementation, review user feedback, and guide future updates.
