Patients Explore Everyday Food Choices at the Hospital Health Station

Fifteen patients and two family members joined doctors and nurses at the General Hospital of Gjakova’s Health Station for an interactive session on everyday eating habits and diabetes self-care, under the theme “How Would You Eat This Meal?”

Through practical exercises and shared experiences, participants explored how to adapt familiar meals to support blood glucose management. Healthcare professionals guided the discussion and answered questions, helping patients connect dietary advice with their daily routines.

“Through today’s exercises and the advice from doctors and nurses, I learned how to eat in ways that help me maintain good health and keep my blood sugar under control,” one patient said at the close of the activity. Participants welcomed the opportunity to learn together and discuss their own experiences.

The session is part of the Health Station concept being developed at the hospital with support from the Integrated Health Services (IHS) Project. Building on earlier activities, the Health Station provides a space where people living with chronic conditions and their families can ask questions, receive practical health education and learn from one another.
