International Learning to Better Diabetic Foot Care in Kosovo

On 4 September 2026, at a session organized at the General Hospital of Peja, knowledge gained through specialized training in Slovenia on diabetic foot care was shared with other healthcare professionals in Kosovo. Dr Teuta Mulla Goga delivered a training session on diabetic foot treatment and care, strengthening nursing staff’s knowledge and practical skills.

Dr Mulla Goga and Majlinda Sadiku, Head Nurse of the Internal Medicine Department, attended professional training at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana through IHS support. The session presented practices used in Ljubljana and explored how they could be adapted to everyday hospital care in Kosovo. Participants included staff from Peja General Hospital, representatives of Isa Grezda General Hospital in Gjakova and the Peja Diabetes Association.

IHS representative Fekrije Hasani highlighted the importance of professional cooperation, knowledge transfer and continuous capacity development. The initiative comes as standardized approaches, guidelines and protocols for diabetic foot care are being developed, helping improve the quality and consistency of patient care.
